Expert Journalist to MC the 2019 North American Cannabis Summit

Dan Adams, Boston Globe cannabis expert and author of the acclaimed This Week in Weed newsletter, will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the upcoming 2019 North American Cannabis Summit in Los Angeles, CA, from January 28 to 30.

Since being named the Globe’s first dedicated cannabis journalist, Mr. Adams has embedded himself in the marijuana community and spotlighted the concerns of marginalized groups while holding the industry and government officials accountable. He has also moderated several panels on marijuana, appeared on National Public Radio, and will present at the inaugural Cannabis Media Summit in New York City.

“I'm honored by the opportunity to help present the 2019 North American Cannabis Summit,” said Mr. Adams. “The Summit’s commitment to objectivity and its diverse lineup of world-class experts promises to deliver a robust and productive exchange of research, ideas, and experiences—the kind of true dialogue that's rarely found at industry-funded conventions, yet sorely needed as more and more jurisdictions move to legalize marijuana.”

Mr. Adams brings a broad perspective of the intersection of cannabis policy, regulation, and the impact on communities. He covers the full range of cannabis happenings, from straightforward reporting of legislative advances to more nuanced stories of matters unfolding from those advances. His recent writing explored the issue of marijuana stores opening near addiction treatment centers from the point of view of city councilors, marijuana companies, experts in addiction, and regulatory agencies.

As author of the Globe’s newsletter This Week in Weed, Mr. Adams provides the definitive insider’s diary of legalization in Massachusetts that nearly 100,000 readers rely on for exclusive scoops, irreverent commentary, and the latest news from the front lines of industry and advocacy.

“At the North American Cannabis Summit’s core is our commitment to a neutral forum where everyone feels comfortable engaging in open dialog. Dan Adams, with his wide perspectives gathered during coverage of the topic, is the perfect master of ceremonies to help keep the conversation flowing and evolving with audience participation,” noted Neal Shifman, AHP President and CEO.
