About Us
We champion opportunities for behavioral health to meet hope.
Our Story
Our commitment to social justice, equity, and better behavioral health outcomes for those marginalized by society started 40 years ago with founder Neal Shifman. He was a visionary and brilliant leader who inspired his team to advocate for the human connection.
Neal grew Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP) from a small Massachusetts company to a national firm with hundreds of staff and projects across the country. Neal confronted monumental challenges head-on, including the opioid epidemic, homelessness, criminal justice reforms, and deaths of despair, seeking the most creative, innovative, and effective ways forward.
AHP was born out of this driving force: healing for all. Our purpose is to improve behavioral healthcare, expand its workforce, and help solve the vexing challenge of homelessness in America. In 2024, Noah Shifman picked up the mantle of president and chief executive officer from his father Neal, prioritizing AHP’s growth and acceleration. Noah and the executive leadership team are committed to carrying on the AHP vision to transform behavioral health care for complex, vulnerable populations. Contact us to share your social infrastructure challenge that requires our bold approach, and we’ll get to work.
