National Cannabis Summit Program Focuses on Real World Experience with Marijuana Legalization
The National Cannabis Summit, to be held in Denver, August 28-30, 2017, offers a program packed with speakers and workshops that reflect the realities of legalizing marijuana. Keynote speakers include current and former public officials responsible for implementation of medical and adult marijuana laws in states like Colorado and Washington. Workshops focus on lessons learned across public health, prevention, regulation, and more, emphasizing data-driven decision-making and evolving best practice. We designed the program to include real world examples from early adoption of marijuana legalization. The Summit will offer a chance for attendees to hear successes and challenges firsthand from those who have experienced it. Attendees will benefit from lessons learned and walk away with a toolbox of emerging best practices.

The Summit focuses on six key themes: the science of cannabis; emerging research and epidemiological data on the impact of legalization; public health and public safety; prevention; governance, federal law and emerging policy best practices; and regulatory issues. Workshop leaders will offer insight into everything from cannabis use disorder among older adults and the impact of medical marijuana dispensaries to youth prevention and implications of legalized marijuana for drugged driving.
