Wellness Recovery Action Plan® (WRAP®)
Life challenges—such as mental or physical health issues, addictions, trauma, loss, conflicts—can greatly impact wellness. For more than 25 years, evidence-based Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) has been key in helping thousands of people worldwide regain hope, get well, stay well, and recover from crises. WRAP participants show increases in quality of life, recovery, empowerment, and hopefulness, along with decreases in anxiety, depression, and symptoms of mental illness.
For over 35 years, AHP has been improving health and human services systems of care to help organizations and individuals reach their full potential. With WRAP’s self-directed action planning, participants having difficult feelings and emotions can regain the balance they need to get well and stay well.
WRAP Books, Materials, and Training for Wellness
WRAP includes recovery-focused books and materials as well as seminars and training that help address participants’ key issues and challenges including mental health, addictions, trauma, neurodiversity, physical health conditions, major life transitions, reentry for justice-involved individuals, and veteran/military service transitions.
Research and trials of this evidence-based practice showed behavioral health improvements in WRAP participants including:
- Reduced psychiatric symptoms, especially depression and anxiety
- Increased hopefulness
- Increased quality of life
- Increased recovery
- Increased empowerment
- Increased self-advocacy
AHP and WRAP are committed to helping people everywhere reach their full potential. With WRAP, there are no limits to recovery.
Over Two Decades of Health and Wellness Support
Since 1998, WRAP has offered recovery-focused books and materials for purchase by individuals and organizations. We also offer evidence-based, manualized group training (recognized in 2010 by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) for individuals and for those seeking to be certified or maintain certification as WRAP Facilitators and Advanced Level Facilitator.
How It Works
By incorporating key recovery concepts and wellness tools into their daily lives, WRAP participants create a wellness recovery action plan that helps to break old habits and nurture recovery and wellness.
Used in prevention and early intervention practices for individuals to make their life healthier, stronger, and brighter, WRAP is a journey that encourages individuals—including those looking to overcome mental health issues—to build a toolbox of tailored coping strategies to manage behavioral or emotional challenges.
These tools help participants identify and understand their personal wellness resources and develop an individualized Daily Plan so they can live with confidence and support.
