Strategic Solutions for the Financial Health of a Community-Based Organization

Case StudiesLast updated: Jun 11, 2025

Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP) collaborated with a Massachusetts community-based organization (CBO) to enhance their billing and revenue cycle management strategy, funded by the Massachusetts Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) Technical Assistance Program.

For over 35 years, Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP) has been improving health and human services systems of care and business operations to help organizations and individuals reach their full potential.

CHALLENGE

Inefficient workflows, billing processes, and data management can lead to lost revenue, hindering workforce development and care quality improvements. To minimize inefficiencies, the CBO needed to optimize billing strategies and revenue cycle management, monitor key performance indicators, and implement business intelligence tools.

SOLUTION

We streamlined the CBO’s revenue cycle, allowing them to focus on client care. Using AHP’s revenue assessment and maximization process, we ensured reliable and consistent revenue cycle management for long-term success. This involved

  • Assessing business processes,
  • Analyzing claims data,
  • Identifying weaknesses, and
  • Developing corrective strategies.

RESULTS

After detecting inefficiencies in billing operations, relevant clinical operations, and contracting issues, we delivered actionable strategies and tactics to strengthen business operations. The CBO increased net revenue and enhanced the client experience, ensuring sustainable financial health and service quality.
