Patrick Gauthier is vice president of strategic development at Advocates for Human Potential (AHP). He is one of AHP’s resident experts on the design and deployment of new initiatives that properly align the resources and incentives of health and behavioral health payers and providers. He brings to bear 30 years in the managed care and behavioral health treatment sectors. Mr. Gauthier has held management positions in a variety of medical, mental health, and substance use disorder treatment settings and served as an executive in a national managed behavioral health care organization for more than a decade at the height of the managed behavioral health care sector’s growth. Over the course of his career, he has focused on systemic innovations and public/private partnerships throughout Medicaid and other publicly funded behavioral health care and social service programs. His experience includes work on behalf of health inequities and disparities.

Mr. Gauthier has advised the country’s largest health and behavioral health systems, as well as systems that serve persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs). His expertise includes regulatory reforms, healthcare financing, integrated delivery systems and provider networks, Medicaid managed care plan operations, and value-based reimbursement. Mr. Gauthier is a dynamic speaker who is called upon regularly to address topics including innovations in behavioral healthcare, population health management, systemic determinants of health, and the development of a robust behavioral health workforce.
